We are Gear Labels

Chris Joughin

Chris first got into poker and poker chips around 2007.

As for many others, it started with learning no-limit hold’em, then progressed into hosting home games, and organizing poker tournaments.

In search of better chips, that felt more like “the real thing”, he joined the online community of Chiptalk.net (now defunct) in 2008 and picked up some used casino poker chips from another member.

In 2011, he was on the hunt for a chip that complemented a certain set, but wanted a lower denomination for home games. He found a chip that would work, but couldn’t find a reliable source to get labels made.

There had to be more people out there like him, people who wanted to customize their casino sets…

Andrea Joughin

Andrea got into poker at the same time as Chris, although she never caught the poker chip bug quite like Chris. She did understand the passion, and encouraged it.

When Chris started talking about how he couldn’t find someone to make the new labels he wanted, she recognized the opportunity for what it was, and encouraged Chris to capitalize on this idea, to provide this very specific product to an under-served market.
